Stream of Conciousness--BE WARNED: it gets complicated & messy!

the way you describe coffee is actually what you think of sex. woah! lack of punctuation! exclamation marks are fun. these keys are like really really plutterly (is that even a word)?? a dude i need a new space bar. bread., bread bread. makes my life no, my world go round. that french loaf with poure butter---nana told me that pure butter is so much better than margarine, because those other 'fat spreads' are filled with PLASTIC!! oh myyy! i've been eating plastic all my life. phone just lit up---probvably laylah telling me im so cool :P) ha. jokes. okay manyyy spelling errors. maybe i should just leave them and not eit them at the end of this blog. yes, althoughmy hand/finger cant stop automatically going fr the backspace button. dam. grrr. birds. why birds?? oh my brothers voics, cute cheeks, really cute, i want to eat them---actually avashni always wanted to eat them..with a teaspoon. homo. no, wrong word....ummm...brain= dead. cant think. mylittle magical SPIRIT catcher is staring at me. oh...basically i told my brother that wheneerv you find a place/time you're incerdbi;y happy, you should open the/pop the cork open and capture that moment, then when you're feeling sad, you should iopen it and let all the happineess float around you. oishould be a writer someday-you're probably thinking---no the hell not, no---okay,m well, this is stream of consoucneess i definitely spelt that wrong...hm. okay i resally want bolognaise now, i attempted pasta earlier on..it was a FAIL, with like all capital letters. i tried this basicbasic mac and cheese. turned out as mac & a blob of hard cheese stuck together. i literally had to take a few bites of macaroni then a bite of cheese. ahh my life a s a pasta chef will never prevail. oakay, is ten minutes up yet. people screaming in the passage, footsteps. growling, suckers, dogs, haichiko, ahhh i cried., what a movie. rapist rapist in my house. okay dont get any ideas, its nothing crime/serious related. okay, well nevermind. its my mind. kreukels va die brein. poetry exam today---afrikaans poetry that is---it was so easy(i could hug mev o'reilly in the exam--but i refrained..) okaydo i close brackets. woa. losing my mind. headache setting in. shit shit shit, okay now iwant to say fuck. just beacuse i can! because its my mi9nd. hahaha.

okay there you have it---my mind in like 5mins.

Jeez, my arms/hands/shouilders ache nowfrom continous typing. typing should really be a lesson at school these days--i would get full marks :) yeah!
okay i am going now--to eat some bread. mmm.

New Adventures

I started my own website today! :D
well, actually, it's for the photography society at my school---but being the head, i decided to create it. It was kind of daunting--starting your own website--oooh...and not having a clue how to go about it either, BUT google was always there to offer its guidance (many thanks google).

Today also gave birth to our very first photography committee meeting WOOHOO :)
(even though it was just rhiannon and I--it was extremely productive)
we have a whole term plan--with lessons and outings and exciting things!

Here's a brief summary of the 4th terms plan:

• lesson 1: we have an 'Amazing Race' for photography--(clues to take pictures of different photographic rules we shall teach them just before the race starts)


• lesson 2: view and discuss the photos they took in the holidays of the theme 'reflections'/open category.


• lesson 3: discuss our OUTING! and learn 'how to use your camera' (all the weird and wonderful things your camera can do and how to take better pictures)


• lesson 4: drag out the trampoline from the gym and get the whole society outside, on the field, boucing with a cut-out-letter that spells the word 'photography' to make a heading for our new photography board (which i shall find in due course)


• lesson 5: (if we have a 5th week) we shall look through the photography board pictures and start doing our board + finalise our outing plans.


• 2nd last week of school: GO ON OUR OUTING--possible places include Kirstenbosch, Kalk Bay or the Gardens in Town.


• last week of school: bring our photos from the outing and look through them :)

WOW---I am SUPER excited! i cant wait to plan next year (which includes a possible photography camp :D )

Disney--the Good 'ol Days

''It's the circle, the circle of life''

Oh wow. How i miss being a carefree child---watching classic Disney movies all day!
*SIGH*

I think the lessons those movies thaught us were INVALUABLE!
I mean, consider the children of today, having to grow up with role-models such as 'Ben 10' and 'Bratz'---i feel so sorry for them! That's exactly why they are so..aggressive? rude? mature?

I can tell you, my role-models were Jasmine (the independent princess who refused to have an arranged marriage--but rather--followed her heart), Ariel (who was so determined to be a human---she never gave up, even if it meant sacrificing everything she had), Cinderella (who was treated to badly by her own family, but perservered through it and never gave up) and ofcourse, Poccahontas (who stayed true to her culture and background and defended her people, even if it meant she was treated as a 'savage'). They are true representatives of the 21st century women, whom every young girl should strive to be like.

My favourite movies were definately 'The Lion King', 'The Little Mermaid', 'Alladin', 'Cinderella' and 'Poccahontas' to name a few.

I think that even though it is seen as naive and ignorant to think that 'Happily Ever Afters' really do happen, the possibility and hope that Disney movies gives every child is priceless--and, well, how can we be suuure that happily-ever-afters are impossible....

Leadership

I have recently been inducted as 'Head of Culture' for 2011

According to my principal's speech, a leader is someone who has:

• Vision: yes, a vision is very important when being a leader--you need to know where you are going so you can lead your team in that direction.



• Passion: you need to WANT to do things, then you shall be successful.



• Follows the school's motto of "Honour Before Honours" --- meaning we should put the school and others before our own needs.

I think leadership is important at schools, because it prepares you for the future; however, i think everyone should get the opportunity to exercise some kind of leadership while at school.

We are not meant to be the elite of our school community---but that is exactly how we are depicted. I think our duties are a bit hypocritical.

Nevertheless, it is an exciting journey which I'm thoroughly EXCITED to embark on.

I love organising, planning, and running events. I love encouraging learners to join the amazing societies we have. I love being at the centre of such a diverse pillar--the cultural pillar :)

Here's to making 2012 an amazing year of leadership!

Children of the REVOLUTION

SO. Starting a movement is not just another bite in the old avo. No, sir.
There are many steps to starting a movement.

• Realizing you have the POWER to change something in this world.


• Brewing up the PASSION to address the changes you want to make.


• Building up the COURAGE to decide to make it a reality.


• Nuturing the HOPE which will fuel your passion.


• INSPIRING others to support your movement.

Corin Nemec once said, "Never let life impede on your ability to manifest your dreams. Dig deeper into your dreams and deeper into yourself and believe that anything is possible, and make it happen"

Starting a revolution is not about gathering the largest amount of follows, and creating a major stir in society; it is about starting with yourself, leading by example and naturally, people will follow. A revolution is when YOU decide to initiate something that will impact other peoples' lives. It does not have an age restriction---a revolution does not wait for those who first need to 'grow-up'. The youth have the most power but the least authority; even so, this fact should not affect those who attain Power, Passion, Courage, Hope and Inspiration.

I have started a movement in the hope of uniting the youth of South Africa to address issues our country and continent is facing. I hope the youth will realize the ability they have to impact someone else's life, positively. It is called "The Power of ONE movement"

My generation is seen to be 'apathetic' and 'lethargic'.
Can you blame us? No, not really.

However, it is our duty to accept we have been exposed to an apathetic way of life, and then re-define our way of life.

This sounds very cliche, but it is very true--we ARE the future. really. when all the 'adults' aren't here anymore, we have to take over. The Jacob Zumas and Malemas aren't going to be around forever, so whose going to run this country? well, us.
Some people find this a very scary thought to process, because they consider our generation in terms of: the latest drug statistics, teenage pregnancy rates, highest drop-out rates....and list really does go on.

BUT, then there is us.
WE are the youth of change, the youth of prosperity, the youth of sustenance.
WE CARE. we are re-defining the 'apathetic' mindstream of our generation. one-by-one.
we realize we can't change the circumstances of the world, but we can change the world.

we.are.activists.

i realize i am one person. but i also realize that the power of one person has the magnitude to
affect a million other people; inevitably changing this world.

Yes, indeed, it's about time i talked about food.

PASTA is the only food i am capable of making
[or rather, enjoy making]

but i absolutely LOVEEE asian food -- from Simply Asia (best restuarant ever) I actually really enjoy eating with chopsticks---i used to fail at eating with chopsticks until i was forced to eat with them whenever i went out for sushi [ANOTHER FAVOURITE food :) ] and when i went to yeji's house. however, yeji's family eats with METAL chopsticks--i still have not mastered gripping food with metal 0_O

okay moving up the coast--> i love PRAWNS and MUSSELS! drizzled in garlic butter :D

i think Ocean Basket and Cape Town Fish Market is the best place for this (as far as i know).

hmmm...i wont deny it--i was recently introduced to SUBZ by my airport buddies in Jozi, and i must say---THEY ARE DELICIOUS! i have only tried the steak & cheese with honey & mustard sauce, but i will try out a new one the next time i go to SubWay or Subz.

okay--going back to Italy, i have to say Primi is riiiight up there with my favourites---the RECCO PASTA is so so yummmy :)

actually, everything from Primi is delish!

Indian food is (naturally) a favourite---i love my gran's curry and roti :):) she has this distinct granny flavour to her foods that no-one else (no matter how hard they try) can repeat. The SWEET*MEATS are just kind of heavenly, but of course i only get to eat them once a year on Diwali.

is a great way to end off the day.
