According to my principal's speech, a leader is someone who has:
- Vision: yes, a vision is very important when being a leader--you need to know where you are going so you can lead your team in that direction.
- Passion: you need to WANT to do things, then you shall be successful.
- Follows the school's motto of "Honour Before Honours" --- meaning we should put the school and others before our own needs.
I think leadership is important at schools, because it prepares you for the future; however, i think everyone should get the opportunity to exercise some kind of leadership while at school.
We are not meant to be the elite of our school community---but that is exactly how we are depicted. I think our duties are a bit hypocritical.
Nevertheless, it is an exciting journey which I'm thoroughly EXCITED to embark on.
I love organising, planning, and running events. I love encouraging learners to join the amazing societies we have. I love being at the centre of such a diverse pillar--the cultural pillar :)
Here's to making 2012 an amazing year of leadership!
